Trapping the Leprechaun

My mom & Nicholas built a Leprechaun trap out of a Lucky Charms cereal box and set it up for the night. Nicholas made sure that Grandma was going to stay up ALL night to catch the little guy.
This morning, we woke up to find Grandma on the floor with a gold coin on her face and several more all around her. The lucky charm marshmallows we left as bait were eaten..all except 2.

We got her up and she said she tried to catch him when she saw him in the trap eating, but he put her under a spell and got away. When he ran away he must have lost some gold coins out of his pot of gold!

Check out their trap (which had to be fixed by me because Grandma is Polish...not Irish and she cut the lid off.....so Nicholas noticed when the trap fell....the Leprechaun could just walk right out! Ha Ha)

Enough already

OK, as if having a little one in the hospital isn't enough to deal with......Nicholas came home Sunday night from a friends saying that he has a stomach ache.
I get him to go potty and then he complains how it hurts really bad. Eddie let's him go in our room to sleep with us...thinking that he may relax. Well, he did not relax. He actually threw up ALL over our bed and floor. We were not up there yet, so we ran up there to help him get to the bathroom. Then I had to strip the bed and start scrubbing the floor. I even had to wash the dry clean only comforter in our washer (and hoped that the washer didn't break from stuffing it in there). We got Nicholas cleaned up and had him go in his own bed.

Thinking maybe the worst has happened, Nicholas got settled in and fell asleep for about 20 minutes before we heard him yelling. Eddie goes to help him and it was too late. This time, the poor kid had thrown up and went to the bathroom. I felt so bad for him. He couldn't help it. He was throwing up so hard that he had no control of anything. We got him in the shower and just kept scrubbing him. Then I had to strip his bed and get to washing and cleaning. Nicholas eventually laid on his floor and we covered him up there until one of the beds had clean sheets back on.
We decided to let him sleep on some big towels on the floor by the bathroom. This was much easier access for him to get to the toilet. I am glad he laid there because he did get sick again and it was on the towel this time.  By the morning, I put him in our bed. Also by the morning....Eddie & I had our stomachs rumbling.
Sure enough I started throwing up and Eddie started...well getting sick.  Put it this way....we were all like Zoo fountains! (Yuck...I know)

Nicholas stayed home from school and Eddie stayed home from work. Lukas was the only one who had energy. Imagine how fun that is? We are all dying on the floor and the poor little guy wants to play ball. Lukas actually threw up on Saturday, but I thought it was because he took a steroid and was gagging from it. I think back now and realize he had Montezuma's revenge too. I guess we could have gotten it from the hospital. We were all there at some point.  Nicholas' teacher did send me a note saying the flu had been going around in her class though too. So, I guess we could have gotten it from there also. Who knows.
Nicholas had a fever of 102 last night and I knew I couldn't send him to school. Eddie made it to work today, but has been texting me telling me his stomach is killing him. I am feeling better and Nicholas slept in until 10am. I kept checking on him to make sure he was breathing. Now my mom said her stomach is rumbling!

Hopefully this will all end soon.
Never mind...Nicholas just had an accident........UGHHHHHH

Lukas

As some as you may know, Lukas was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and had some asthma attacks.

I knew as soon as I heard that choking type of cough, that I needed to get him in to the doctors. After making arrangements for Nicholas to be picked up from school, I got Lukas in there ASAP. After fighting with him through 2 treatments, it wasn't helping him and they sent me over to Henry Ford. We were adnitted right away and they drew blood as well as took a chest Xray.  He was negative for RSV and influenza. His chest Xray was hazy, but negative. The doc said since it was hazy and she could hear the crackling in his chest.....that she was diagnosing him with pneumonia and treating him that way. They got him hooked up to an IV of steroids and started breathing treatments every 2 hours......which made for a long night for us both! I had to physically restrain him at every treatment and even when they just wanted to listen to his lungs.  He is a fighter and a strong one at that. He was clubbing people and smacking and .....let's just say he was not friendly at all.

They thought of letting him go home yesterday, but his breathing was too fast and the wheezing and crackling going on. It just didn't get better as fast as they thought it might, so he stayed again last night. Eddie stayed with him and I got Nicholas off to school this morning. I am sitting here right now and he is leaning over the hospital bed looking at me like "let's go mom!"
After they give him his 12 pm breathing treatment (and he does well) we should be able to start heading out the door. He will need breathing treatments at home every 4 hours for 24 hours and they will be giving him more steroids to take him with him for 3 days. I need to make his follow up for Monday with his own doctor as well.
So, thanks to my friend Loree for getting Nicholas from school and letting him hang out with her & the boys on Wed. Also a big thanks to our friend Sarah who brought us food to the hospital yesterday afternoon. We really appreciated it!  Thanks for everyone's kind words and prayers. It's nice to know that these boys have a loving and caring support of family and friends....so thanks to all who have called or stopped by and have kept Lukas in your thoughts and prayers.

Student of the Month

Nicholas was chosen to be the Student of the Month for March. I think it's great because there are 29 kids and only about 8 months for the year. So, obviously not everybody gets to be chosen.  I am not sure how they choose the child from their class, but we are so proud of him. He is above level for reading and we always get good reports that he listens and behaves really well. Conferences are next week and then we can get the full scoop.
Eddie & I are so proud of him. He reads and writes and loves to do both. We were actually shocked to see how well and how easy it has been so far for him to start reading and writing. He has a fantastic imagination and has even begun writing a movie. Star Wars part 7. He thinks the writers were waiting for him to continue the story. His title is .....The Goodness Returns. He is adding some new characters as well as continuing on with some from the last Star Wars.  He definitely gets good use out of all of those costumes that Santa brought him for Christmas.

This morning  (This was Tuesday) when I dropped him off at school, we went to look at the bulletin board so I could take a picture of his picture......but they must have the student there with them when they put it up because his was missing. He did not go to school yesterday because he was under the weather, so I am assuming that they will get his picture up there today!
Yay Nicholas.......Mommy & Daddy are so proud of you and we love you so much!

They took his picture yesterday and I got a snap of it this morning (Wednesday). Check him out!

Kwame salami

Well, it seems that Kwame did not pay his money this past Friday to the city of Detroit. What do you think will happen now? Probably nothing, right? Hopefully they make him go back to jail.....but it seems that these matters always get just tossed to the side. Maybe justice will prevail!
I got some figures wrong, but if you want to see the details....just click here

So, Eddie & I gave up chocolate for Lent and Nicholas has decided to give up gum. After explaining what Lent was, Nicholas still had a tough time. He said he did not want to give up ANYTHING and he started to get upset about it. I listed about a million thimgs that he could give up. Things that he doesn't even normally have or do. Still.....he just couldn't decide. I started to get frustrated and kept mentioning that I could choose his X-box for him to give up. The more he thought about it, the more gum sounded like a good choice!

Chocolate is an indulgence of ours once and awhile, but the moment I gave it up....that was the moment that I wanted some. I crave it once a month...if you get the drift, but it is also a good stress reliever. Just a little taste of course....I don't want my workouts to be for nothing. Now that I can use my creaky old knees again....carefully....I have begun some really good walking workouts. Jillian Michaels yells at me throughout them on the treadmill with the iFit workout programs.

Good luck on your Lent sacrifices!

16 months.....

Well, Lukas turned 16 months old on Valentine's Day and he is soooooooo close to walking now.
He is now pulling himself up like crazy and he is trying to move his feet. It will not be long now and then I will be wishing that he was sitting still!
The one thing that bothers me about my little bundle of love is that he keeps hitting his head on things. I just don't like that. Some say it's a boy thing and some say their kids did it and were fine. He does it really hard though. He does it alot and he will do it wherever he is. Even if he is sitting on a tile floor.....he leans over and starts smacking his forehead right on the tile. Of course he looks up at me and is crying and has a red mark....but if I didn't get him, then he would keep doing it. I don't think it is for attention because he has mine 24/7.
He throws some bad tantrums too and during them he throws his head back or forward and it will usually smack something. Right now he has a black eye (a light saber episode...we wont even talk about that...right Grandma?) and a knot on his forehead from a carousel.

Well....little boys, they say.....are naturally rough. I'll say.

Speaking of a little boy .....I just saw on the news that Kwame Kilpatrick has to pay money by this Friday and then another large sum in 60 days. His Lawyer says the judge is being unreasonable and that Kwame has moved on and agreed to pay $1 million dollars as well lose his license to practice law and now he is in Texas........try to live his life.....in a mini mansion....with a Cadillac Escalade.......and he has moved on.
Hey...he paid $100,000 back.....isn't it time for Detroit to move on?
HELL to the NO!!! I am sooooo glad the judge ordered him to pay $69,000 by this Friday (I think thats the amount) and another $200K + in 60 days or go back to jail! WAY TO GO JUDGE. Why should Detroit move on? He agreed to pay the million BACK and only paid $100k of it???? WHAT A JOKE. Throw his ass in the slammer. He has done waaaay more damage here than a measly $100k worth of a payback. Sell your stupid mini mansion and your Escalade and go rent an Apt and drive a Focus.........whatever it takes to pay back part of the actual damage you caused here!!!

Sorry.....I get so heated when I hear dumb asses talk. Maybe Lukas can show Kwame how to pound his head into the floor......it may knock some sense into that brain dead loser!!

Well..................Lukas giving him a pounding didn't work out as well as I thought it would....
